RESURRECTION ON THE BACK OF A SKELETON

DARKNESS. Flashing light. On the background — human spine: huge X-ray image extending from the stage floor to the fly. The spine is shot in curved position — such position which happens when the person is dancing. Bodies lie on the stage. Some of them crawl as worms on the ground. That’s how starts the “Morning Song”, the first Georgian performance in the genre of modern dance. It was presented for the first time to guests of the Festival “Podarok” (Podarok means in Russian present or gift — translator’s note) at the Kote Mardjanishvili Theatre.
The rhythm is set by Gogi Dzodzuashvili’s music. The energy to the action is transmitted by the poetry of Rati Amaglobeli which is heard from the loudspeakers. The key moments are emphasized by the light set by designer Simon Machabeli. And — the most important — dancers move over the stage obeying to the will of the choreographer Tamaz Vashakidze. Words, sound, light and bodies are combined in one by the director Lasha Bugadze...
This project... has become the first example of professional production of the modern dance in Georgia...
